More than 190 Ward Committees Attending the Annual Aonference
Aganang Local Municipality convened Ward Committees in the annual conference to discuss challenges and achievement`s encountered in serving communities. For a change, the 03 days conference was held in Karibu Lodge where sister municipalities attended and praised Aganang Municipality for their consistent in honouring of the foot soldiers every year. Aganang Local Municipality has been a host of the Lucas Radebe prestigious sports development initiative for the past four years. The Municipality has been at the forefront in assisting sports development programmes within its jurisdiction just like the support of Mayoral Tournament and Mayoral Race. This year Lucas Radebe tournament was held under Moletla-Basha-Schools-Sport-Event (meaning of the name: Moletjie; Matlala; Maraba and Mashashane), facilitated by Agang-Sechaba Foundation in Ga-Sechaba. Aganang Municipality Celebrate the Bravery of Women Traffic Officials

Aganang Local Municipality has today celebrated the bravery of Women Traffic Officials in the municipality, as part of activities to commemorate women's month.
Her worship Mayor Cllr Maria Mokobodi applauded the women in Uniform for doing their work on the roads beside intimidation by various drivers who undermine their abilities. SAPS going beyond limits in adopted Rapitsi Secondary School in fight against crime.
Mashashane police station, Major Matidi Rameetse said every teacher, learner and school governing body (SGB) members has the responsibility to play a role in reporting any sort of criminality at schools. He was speaking during the crime campaign which was held at Radipitsi secondary school in Ga-phaudi, Moletjie. Aganang Local Municipality has kept its promises again, this time on making sure that its core mandate of maintaining access roads and internal streets is achieved. The Municipality promised communities during IDP Community Consultations for 2014/15 that it has put aside a budget to purchase two additional graders, low bed truck and Front-end loader. The plants were bought and delivered recently and are fully operational. Aganang Local Municipality in partnership with Matlala SAPS and Department of Social Development (SASSA)honored International Mandela Day on 18 July 2014.Her Worship Mayor, Cllr Maria Mokobodi joined the world in honoring Tata Mandela's legacy by helping elderly Koko Christina Mabela aged 96 years old. Koko Mabela's house and yard were cleaned as part of 67 Minutes of Mandela.Koko Mabela was pampered with food parcels and blankets as the municipality persuaded Mandela's love for the elderly persons. Her Worship Mayor, Cllr Maria Mokobodi and Sunbake donated food to 24 indigent families in Lonsdale village as part of 67 Minutes of Mandela Day.

Aganang Schools Career Exhibition Commemorate Youth Month

EDUCATION PRIORITY IMPLEMENTED: GRADE 12 LEARNERS AND EDUCATORS EMPOWERED BY THE CAREER EXHIBITION IN CELEBRATION OF JUNE 1976 IN 20 YEARS OF FREEDOM

In celebrating 20 years of freedom, Aganang Local Municipality hosted Grade 12 learners from 8 circuits to take part in Schools Career Exhibition on the 20 June 2014 at Municipal hall.The exhibition was attended by learners and educators, universities and colleges, correctional services and the famous Makwena Makgakga "Kwenisto" from SABC Thobela FM. The Mayor's Office conceptualized the career exhibition idea through the deployed Youth Development learner,Mr Jerry Ramphele ."Part of my roles in Aganang Municipality is to put in practice what I am currently learning at the training college centre by developing and initiating youth programmes for rural areas. The main objective of Aganang school career exhibition was to create career awareness for our grade 12 learners focusing on scarce skills in celebration of Youth Month. We hope to provide a vehicle to disseminate useful career information and providing access to various career options for the rural and disadvantaged communities' youth", he explained the purpose of the event.

The Speaker of Aganang Council, Cllr Noko Ntsewa highlighted the importance of celebrating Youth activities as indicated by the President of South Africa, Mr Jacob Zuma in his State of the Nation Address on 17 June 2014."Our municipality is hosting Aganang Schools Career exhibition when we are just commemorating the bravery of 16 June 1976 youth who were for better education of a black child. Aganang Ward 09 Satisfied With Service Delivery Report for 2014/15

Aganang Local Municipality held community consultations on the 16 & 17 November 2013 as stipulated by Section 4 of Municipal Systems Act no 32 of 2000. The first imbizo was held at Municipal hall with high involvement and public participation from residents from various 9 wards starting from 04, 05,06,07,08,09,10,11, and 19. Outlining the purpose of the imbizo, the Mayor, Cllr Maria Mokobodi said that Aganang Municipality is required to provide service delivery progress report as indicated in the Section 6 of Municipal Systems Act no 32 of 2000."This is the platform for our residents to express and give advices to the municipality in ensuring the provisioning of quality service delivery regarding infrastructure, free basic services, roads and pre-school construction as guided by 6 Key Local Government Strategic Agenda. We are presenting the first financial report for the year 20113/14 which will explain the completed and backlog of the 2012/13 municipal projects" explained Mayor Cllr Mokobodi.

Based on the poor and rural background of Aganang residents, the service delivery rendered to communities are offered for free of charge. These services range from grading of roads, supplying of free basic alternative electricity and disaster management in partnership with sector departments. Aganang Municipality has completed most of the capital projects budgeted for the financial year 2012/13."It is with great joy to inform our people that we have managed to complete upgrading of Maribana hall and Tibane stadium, construction of Sebora crèche and installation of two Apollo lights at Setumong village. These are some of the projects we take pride for serving our residents as Aganang Municipality although there are still some projects rolled over to the financial year 2013/14", said Mayor Mokobodi. Infrastructure: A Catalyst to Job Creation and Local Economic Development

Aganang Local Municipality is required to develop an Integrated Development Plan (IDP) as a vehicle or platform for spheres of government and other role players to converge to realise the objects of local government, whilst living its motto "Mmogo re tla kgona".

On that note the municipality today (Friday, 18 October 2013) held its 1st IDP Representative Forum where the Her Worship Mayor, Cllr Maria Mokobodi presented the status quo, reflected on interventions and highlighted challenges whilst also sourcing inputs as far as service delivery in the 2013/2014 Financial year is concerned. Fire Week Prevention Announced Aganang Fire Station on the Pipeline

As part of International Fire Prevention Week, Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) Disaster and Emergency Services in partnership with Aganang Local Municipality (ALM) held an awareness campaign at Ipopeng One Stop Centre in Setumong Ga-Matlala. The campaign held under the theme, 'Living with Disability and Disasters' was also part of build-up to the International Disaster Risk Reduction Day on 13 October 2013.

In line with The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction's (UNISDR) focus is on people living with disabilities in 2013, learners and educators from Mpopuleng Care Centre for the Mentally and Handicapped in Setumong village attended the event. The elderly and business people were targeted for this campaign which was also aimed at educating community members about safety and fire disasters prevention measures especially man-made fires. Aganang Advocates for Green Concept at Ambergate School

Ambergate Primary School ceased classes in a jubilant mood. This follows after the municipality donated and planted 10 trees in the school yard and handed over more than 150 trees to 19 Ward Councillors to plant in the yards of selected RDP houses. Her Worship Mayor, Cllr Maria Mokobodi prioritized households headed by women and orphans to receive two trees consisting of indigenous and fruit trees as a way to promoting the Green Concept across Aganang wards. In her address, Her Worship Mayor, Cllr Mokobodi outlined the significance of planting trees at Ambergate Primary School as a way to support the footprint of the emerging young athlete Nare Mokonyama. "We want to empower and honour our little star Nare and her educators for moulding her talent in athletics. I want to applaud all the educators for the enormous good role you are partaking in our children's lives and one tree will be named after Nare Mokonyama to mark her remembrance in Arbor Week", outlined Her Worship Mayor.

Aganang Local Municipality came 3rd position in the District Greenest Municipality competitions. Her Worship Mayor, Cllr Mokobodi expressed joy over the victory and requested Aganang communities to plant trees in their households because of their importance in the environment. Aganang Roadblock Validate Women in Law Enforcement Ability

Capricorn District Women in Law Enforcement Services gathered at Aganang Local Municipality on 28 August 2013 to wrap up Women's Month executing their road duties. A parade was performed by the traffic officers before starting the targeted roadblocks in partnership with Matlala SAPS. Lieutenant-Colonel W Moabelo declared their determined support to women programmes in law enforcement sectors.

Traffic Officers from Molemole, Polokwane, Blouberg and Aganang Municipalities embarked on a massive roadblocks operation at Saaiplaas, Tibane and corner Gilead and Knobel road at Ceres to enforce road compliance amongst Aganang road users. Polokwane Station Commander Traffic Control Centre Maggie Segooa said their aim for gathering at Aganang roads is to show commitment and how capable women traffic officers are in terms of law enforcement in the province. "We are in this joint Operation with our stakeholders from Vlakfontein SAPS, Emergency Medical Services and Fire Brigade staff. Aganang dedicated more than 67 Minutes for Mandela Day at a Special School

Aganang Local Municipality did 67 minutes of charitable work at Phatlaphadima Special School in Maune village, Ga-Mashashane as part of International Mandela Day. This was done in collaboration with Limpopo South African Local Government Association (SALGA), SAPS, department of Health and Gateway Airports Authority Limited at Polokwane International Airport.

Among the activities on the day were grading of main road leading to the school, sports ground, cleaning of the yard, vegetable garden, windows and cooking for the 140 learners. Donations of clothing, netball and soccer kits, toys, toiletries and groceries were happily welcomed with open arms by Phatlaphadima learners and educators from various donors of government in honour of Tata Nelson Mandela 's birthday as he turned 95th years old. Aganang salutations for athlete Kekana s victory over Comrade Marathon

Aganang Local Municipality on Tuesday, dated 04 June 2013, joined the people of Mandela village in Ga-Mashashane to give 2013 Comrades marathon gold medalist, Johannes Kekana a hero s welcome. Kekana came fifth position overall in only his second participation in this ultra-marathon held in Kwazulu-Natal known as Durban Comrade Marathon.

Vlakfontein village experienced the 1996 thunderstorms disaster

Aganang Local Municipality disaster officials were on duty over the weekend to provide assistance to 11 households damaged by heavy thunderstorms in Vlakfontein village, Ward 19-Matlala area.Friday disaster strike left many sorrows and frustration to the affected family members and children as their valuable properties and groceries were destroyed by heavy rains.

Mohlatlego Chokoe s house was affected by the disaster as part of her house roof was completely blown away and remained with only one room. Anne Manamela was inside Chokoe s home when disaster struck and felt the season when it was not raining but pouring.
