AGANANG POLITICAL MANAGEMENT RESTORES PEACE IN WARD 17

The Political Management Team (PMT) and Senior Management attended Madietane community meeting on 21 February 2015.The meeting was a follow-up meeting to provide feedback to the community regarding service delivery concerns raised in the meeting attended on the 20 December 2014.Ntona Moabelo appreciated the municipality for listening to their concerns and providing feedback as promised in the previous meeting. "Let`s respect our leadership for giving us an opportunity to listen to our grievances when we called them to come to Madietane people", said Ntona Moabelo.Cllr Mokobodi cautioned young people on activities which may put their health at risk. Health workers run a mini workshop about the danger and risks of contracting STI's including HIV & AIDS. They say In South Africa, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remain a big problem, even though most of the infections can be cured. The fear of being stigmatized is one of the many reasons why people are reluctant to seek medical treatment for sexually transmitted infections."STI/Condom Week is aimed not only at reducing the spread of STI but also to curb the spread of HIV and AIDS." They said.
The Chief Whip ,Cllr Malesela Teffo outlined the purpose of the meeting as to attend to the service delivery requests made to the municipality and open new suggestions to Senior Managers. He further indicated that the municipality wants to restore peace in Ward 17 between their Ward Councillor and community.” As the leadership, we want to rectify the past mistakes made to our people and move forward on a positive level”, explained the Chief Whip.

The Municipal Manager, Mr Ramakuntwane Selepe tabled the progress report to the community members regarding their raised concerns. Selepe made commitment to resolving Madietane concerns working together with other sector departments. He indicated that Department of Health and Capricorn District Municipality were informed about the shortage of water crisis and the need for provision of clinic.” Department of Health said Dibeng village is to be prioritized by clinic facility in 2015.Currently there are 06 mobile clinics to service Madietane community. Regarding the problem of trees alongside the road, we are working with Public Works to assist us through EPWP participants”, explained the Municipal Manager.
Amongst other concerns raised by Madietane community were high rate of crime, Madietane lower bridge, unsatisfactory service offered by water pumper. Captain Mailula from Matlala SAPS urged community members to fight any criminal taking place in their villages through establishment. "The most common types of crime encountered by Madietane village are stock theft, cable theft, house breaking and illegal use of drugs such as dagga and nyaope. Community Police Forum is important in reducing crime and Matlala Police Station offers social service for abused and traumatised victims in the community", he said.

Madietane community welcomed the management efforts of attending to their service delivery concerns.
