Aganang Partnered with SAPS Matlala and Mashashane in fight against crime in high schools



SAPS going beyond limits in adopted Rapitsi Secondary School in fight against crime.
Mashashane police station, Major Matidi Rameetse said every teacher, learner and school governing body (SGB) members has the responsibility to play a role in reporting any sort of criminality at schools. He was speaking during the crime campaign which was held at Radipitsi secondary school in Ga-phaudi, Moletjie. The police were partnered with community police forum (CPF), department of Social Development, department of Correctional ServiceS and Aganang municipality.

Rameetse said they will be working hard from now on in rooting out the crime in schools. "As police, we want to see our school learners doing well at schools and stopping them from being engaged in criminal activities. This is one way of ensuring that school based crime prevention takes place," Said Rameetse.



"As young as our learners are, they have to understand that if they commits crime while they are underage to be sentenced, the criminal record will be kept where in future if the same child commits another crime when is over 18 years, the prosecution will utilize the first crime committed still underage as a basis for a harsh sentence, "he said.



Ngoako Makgakga, a Grade. 11 learner echoed the police officers and urged the learners to focus on their books rather than to engage in criminal activities. "As a learner I've heard enough and from now on I will make sure that my school work is well done all the times. The police should keep on visiting our schools as this will help a lot in terms of school improvements," said Makgakga.

Cons Brigid Kunutu, said drugs and alcohol are the major problems in schools, our statistics shows that Phaudi Village is one of the villages with high rate of crime and we will not condone such as police. "Parents should always know where their children are and what they are doing at that time, this will also assists us a lot in preventing the high rate of crime in our areas," said Kunutu.


Special Focus Committee and Stakeholders create awareness of crime to learners

One of the teachers, Albert Moraba said he feel very happy with the well done job by the police as this will channel their learners to a greener pastures. "Working together with the police will benefit us a lot and as teachers we will make sure that all the learners are working hard towards their life goals and are passing their exams with flying colours," said Moraba
