AGANANG MAYOR AND MEC OF TRANSPORT OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED AGANANG TRAFFIC STATION
The newly-well equipped Aganang traffic department was officially opened by Her Worship Mayor, Cllr Maria Mokobodi and the MEC of Transport Mapula Mokaba Phukwana. The station which is fully fitted with state of the art equipment will serve the community in full. It will help Aganang Community with all services that should be offered within a fully functional traffic unit. These include registration of vehicles, issuing of permits, payments and issuing of license disks, testing and issuing of learners and drivers’ license and testing of vehicles for roadworthiness.
The Traffic unit was previously offering only limited services and community members had to travel to Polokwane or other nearest stations for full services. Her Worship Mayor, Cllr Maria Mokobodi believes the opening of this full house service station will benefit the community as it will reduce their traveling costs and times spend traveling to Polokwane. She calls upon the community to utilize the services which are available in their local radius. Speaking to some of the community members during the official opening, it was very clear that they felt relieved.
The MEC of Transport Mapula Mokaba Phukwana promised that the department will engage with relevant stakeholders to see if there can be a possibility for all municipal traffic units to be able to help taxi associations with operating permits. She says currently taxi drivers have to travel to Lebowakgomo to apply for permits, which is a long drive from Aganang. Aganang Chief of Traffic & Licensing, Kailane Setati says they are happy now as they will be able to service the community of Aganang to the fullest. He says travelling to Polokwane for driver’s license will be a thing of the past.
Setati says Aganang Traffic Unit staff is ready to deal with an influx of people coming to the station as the number of services being offered will increase. He says they have been waiting for the day when they would be able to offer a full house services.
