Aganang Ward 09 Satisfied With Service Delivery Report for 2014/15



Just few days after the adoption IDP/Budget 2014/15 by Aganang Council, Ward 09 Councilor Pitsi Makweya convened a ward based service delivery meeting on the 07 June 2014 at Kgabo Park Pre-school in Kgabo Park village to breakdown the municipal plans for his four villages by Aganang Local Municipality.Aganang Local Municipality have adopted a total budget of R155 115 841 for service delivery on 30 May 2014.Ward 09 is clustered into four villages; namely Kgabo Park, Ceres, Rampuru and Ramoshoane lead by Cllr Pitsi Makweya. Cllr Makweya and his 10 ward committees facilitate service delivery implementation through the identification of reporting communities' problems to municipal officials and sector departments.

Ward based community meeting is mandated by Local Government Municipal Systems Act 32 ya 2003 as part of promoting good governance and public participation programmes."As your ward councilors we are obliged to convene ward based service delivery consultations on a quarterly basis in order to inform and give feedback to our communities with emphasize on service delivery implementation. By so doing, we are being held accountable as leaders to our people and breaking down the municipal plans by the municipality in the IDP/Budget 2014/15 in our ward as a whole", Cllr Makweya explained.

Cllr Makweya expressed his joy to have produced leaders from Aganang Local Municipality serving in national parliament of South Africa. "Our former Mayor Cde Mmanoko Masehela and Cde Stan Maila from Ward 01 are representing our municipality in parliament which is a great achievement to us", he alluded.

Aganang Local Municipality is classified as a rural municipality in Capricorn District with limited infrastructure. Cllr Makweya indicated that infrastructure development is very critical for improving the lives of Aganang people. "We are determined to making a difference in improving the living conditions in our communities. Our municipality is going to upgrade Rampuru village with internal street worth of R12 million in the commencement of the new financial year which will provide an opportunity to test learners drivers who will be doing their driver 's licenses in our traffic testing station", said the ward councilor. He further said that a total number of 160 jobs are created in Ward 09 which has served in alleviating poverty in households

Through the assistance Capricorn District Municipality, Aganang Municipality will have a landfill site for financial 2014/15."The time for constructing Aganang landfill site is now and the municipality have put aside an amount of R4 million for implementing the project", said Cllr Makweya. He continued that the site will be placed at Kgabo Park village which allow the municipality to provide refuse removal services to Aganang communities. "This is a chance for our communities to live in a clean and healthy environment as we will be joining hands together to achieve the objective of clean environment", he promised

Aganang Municipality have allocated a budget of R2 million for waste and environmental management. Cllr Makweya was highlighted that the municipality takes environmental issues ad a priority. "I am grateful that through EPWP programme our municipality is going to create more jobs in the environmental sector”. He also acknowledged that there are still CWP programme challenges regarding payments of participants. Cllr Makweya said he is always available to solve any challenges encountered by Ward 09 participants and many have already been resolved.

A dream of Aganang Municipality having a fire station is becoming a reality where an amount of R5 million is budgeted for the project. Cllr Makweya said the construction of the station and a car wash is a bonus to Ward 09 people as the services will be rendered next to their doorsteps. "Currently,the car wash construction is underway and 09 people are already hired from Rampuru and Ceres villages", he announced in the meeting.

Only Ramoshoane village in Ward 09 is on priority list whilst 03 villages have three creches built by the municipality as a way of promoting early childhood development. "Our Municipality has provided shelters to our children because we want to provide a good foundation for the future generations. Good education facilities enhance learning for the children", Cllr Makweya articulated

Ward 09 residents welcomed the electrification of Kgabo Park and Ramoshoane extensions with open hands from their leader starting from June 2014.Cllr Makweya said he is happy that all four villages in his ward have electricity excluding new extensions. He further said an amount of R7, 5 million is budgeted for water project in Ceres and Ramoshoane villages and both their scope of work is complete for financial year 2014/15.

Amongst other budget for Ward 09 is the R200000.00 for Ramoshoane Poultry project funded by Department of Agriculture. A total 460 VIP toilets will be allocated to Ramoshaone village in the next financial year. Cllr Makweya said the municipality is currently engaging Moletjie Tribal Authority with the effort of township establishment after land is available. "Our municipality has put aside an amount of R3, 5 million for township development", he announced. He further indicated that as soon as the municipality concludes the process of by-laws,Kgabo Park village is identified as one of the area to have grave digging services. "The municipality is going to consult our residents about prices for the services through community consultations as required by legislations",

Cllr Makweya said the good sanitation facilities will restore the dignity of our poor people. He concluded by urging Ward 09 residents to get involved in sports activities and indigenous games in order to have healthy lifestyles. "As your ward councilor I believe we need to involve our communities in sports since it has great potential activities like Bo-Mateki", he pleaded. He concluded the ward based meeting by thanking his ward committees, CDWs and Mantonas and members of society from Ward 09 for the important role they played in achieving the objectives of the Aganang Local Municipality and dedicated support provided to him throughout the years of serving in the Council. "I wish to plea to every person in Ward 09 to stick together in tiding the service delivery rope together as our motto say Mmogo re tla kgona",concluded the councilor.
