Just over thirty athletes competed in the recent Aganang Mayor's half marathon. The marathon was organised in partnership with Moletjie and Mogoshi Athletic clubs with the backing of Limpopo Athletics (LIMA) starting at Chloe and finishing at the municipal ground.

Besides athletes from the two clubs the marathon was able to attract people from outside the municipal boundary as the Mokerong Athletics Club (Waterberg), Run Walk for Life (Polokwane) and University of Limpopo took part.

The 5km Fun Run saw over 50 entrants taking part in this race with an aim to have fun as the name suggests and promote a healthy living.

In her keynote address during the awards ceremony, Aganang Mayor Cllr Mmanoko Masehela said it was a great honour to have organised a marathon of such magnitude which is earmarked to be an annual event. "Everybody has got talent which differs from person to person; as such we are looking to unearth more talent in order to have more great athletes to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Caster Semenya. We also extend a word of gratitude to the Athletic Clubs within the Municipality for the great work in bringing about organised sports". Masehela also urged the business fraternity to come on board in order to help in improving on this year's total prize money of R10 000.00.

LIMA's Francis Macheru thanked the organisers for a great race but indicated hope that participation will be maximal in next year's marathon whilst also appreciating the talent on show.
