Aganang caterers graduate

In terms of the national target poverty should be halved by 2014 and Aganang Local Municipality through its Economic Development and Planning (EDP) unit continue to support local entrepreneurs financially and through skills development.

On that note about 20 caterers were recently awarded certificates at a function held at the municipal Council Chambers after embarking on Business Management training programme. The content for this Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises training sponsored by Tourism Enterprise Partnership (TEP) included Business skills, Human Resource Management, Marketing and Finance.

Speaking during the graduation Aganang Caterers' Association Secretary and one of the certificate recipients, Ms Morongwa Mokwele promised that they are going to apply the skills they learned in the training programme in their businesses. She also appreciated the support they are getting from the municipality in terms of procurement opportunities.

TEP's Business Development Consultant in Limpopo, Ms Irma Norminton said the training is useful in that it develops capacity of SMMEs and as such they will be able to take ownership of their businesses. "Knowledge is power and if graduates are able to apply what they have learned in the programme that will go a long way in having long term sustainable businesses", Norminton said.

Aganang Executive Committee member responsible of Economic Development and Planning, Cllr Elizabeth Bruintjies said the municipality is always ready to support businesses within its boundaries in pursuit of promotion of the spirit of entrepreneurship and eradicating poverty. Support to local economic development is entrenched in the municipality's Integrated Development Plan. Bruintjies also encouraged caterers to register on the municipality's supplier database in order to do business with it.
