Aganang Local Municipality launched the Walk-in-25 Aganang Secondary Cooperative LTD extension/shop at Stand 113, Phase 1, and Kgabo Park Village on the 18 December 2013. The store has currently created four employments
for locals and is part of the 11 stores to be launched by Aganang and the implementing agency Walk-in-25 Management Services. Kgabo Park Quick Mart Store offers groceries, fast foods, internet and banking access points to
Aganang communities and save travelling costs.
The municipality through the LED department is working with department of Trade and Industry (DTI) towards functioning of the wholesale warehouse. Director of Regional Industries Thami Klassen said department of trade and
industry has a mandate for uplifting economic development with programmes that ensure cooperatives operate as legal entities and enterprise development by providing financial and non-financial assistance interventions.
Her Worship Mayor, Cllr Maria Mokobodi welcomed the opportunities and growth taking place in remote areas within Aganang Local Municipality. "We are determined to achieve National Development Plan (NDP) goals through local economic
development and job creation for our people. As Aganang we are pleased by the journey which started in the financial year 2010/2011 bearing good outcomes. Cooperatives are business model recommended by our government for the benefit
of our people", expressed Her Worship Mayor.
The wholesale warehouse worth R4.6 million is complete and aimed to be operational in the year the financial year 2013/2014.Both the municipality and department of trade and industry (DTI) have injected an amount of R4.5 and R3
million towards the optimal operating of the distribution center. The Mayor, Cllr Mokobodi indicated that the planned 11 shops will bridge the unemployment gap and poverty by creating more than 350 occupations. "The distribution
centre will generate 100 jobs for our locals especially the youth. This business model will also create a competitive market for entrepreneurship in Aganang Municipality", concluded Her Worship Mayor.
